doggy reunion :)

August was a pretty crazy month for me, the culmination of the craziness being finally flying back to the United States from Johannesburg after two years of living abroad. Dealing with a (decidedly stressful) whirlwind of weighing suitcases, getting covid tests, negotiating with a Logan landlord, and bidding farewell to family was definitely not the highlight of my 2021.
What was arguably the highlight of my 2021, and definitely the highlight of my August, however, was the sweet sweet reunion with my spaniel, Millie. Dear Millie has been living with my grandparents in Georgia in the time my family and I have been away, and while she may have put on a few pounds (you know how grandparents are), she's still the sweetest dog I know. Even the pouring rain that made her sopping wet and muddy couldn't stop her from climbing all over me. Luckily, grandma has a nice washing machine so I wasn't too concerned.
While Georgia has never been my home in the states, and it isn't really Millies either, it was the most at home I've felt in two years (and I've got the low-quality pictures to prove it)

Dogs have always played a big role in my life, and clearly, I'm not alone. Dogs have been human companions for centuries, and yet I have never really focused on them in an academic setting. I think that's part of what interested me about this class, how unusual, yet interesting (and endearing) the topic is.

  1. Aww! Cute dogs! What were you doing in Johannesburg? I've always wanted to see Africa.

  2. Wow! I don't blame you for feeling at home because Millie looks like the sweetest little girl. I'm glad you were reunited!!
